Hi, I have been diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma,  found after I went to see my Doctor with bad ear ache, that I felt was tracking down my neck. He did an quick ultrasound and found a nodule on the right side of my thyroid.  So after an echo examination then more ultrasound with a fine needle biopsy and a wait of 5 weeks for the biopsy results( as it was over Christmas) I was told it was cancer.  I also have 5 nodules on the left side but apparently not cancerous as far as they can see.

I am scheduled for a total thyroidectomy on 12 th May which seems forever away, as I was told about this in 4 th January.

I am aware of feeling unwell for quite some time, always cold,  tired, hair loss, weight gain etc etc but just put it down to advancing years (60) but now realise its probably my thyroid causing all this.

This week I have caught Covid so am feeling extremely unwell.  Tired faceRoll on May when I hope I will feel better than I do now.

Regards to all and speedy recoveries. Xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which i hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place to be.

Being told you have cancer is very scary but I'm sure the others in this group will be more than happy to share their treatment and surgery experiences with you if there's anything that you want to ask.

I too recently caught covid but was fortunate that I just had very mild, cold like symptoms. In fact if I hadn't tested myself I really wouldn't have known that I'd had it. I hope you'll be on the road to recovery from it soon.
