Hello, I have a lot going on at present as during a routine CT scan on my chest my left thyroid was found to be enlarged and also contained a 12mm poorly defined nodule which I am having scanned next week. Has anyone else had a 'poorly defined' nodule and if so what was the outcome? Thank you for looking. Ps. I also have suspected bladder cancer and having a cystoscopy the week after so being kept busy!
Hi Barbara, I am having an ultrasound scan to the best of my knowledge.
Best wishes
Thanks for that clarification. Sounds like life's throwing a lot of challenges your way at the moment.
Ultrasound is usually the first step and will be used to decide whether you need to have a Fine Needle biopsy. In some hospitals, that biopsy can be done at the same time, often it's not. I never actually had an ultrasound because my lump was so enormous that it had to be operated on regardless of what it turned out to be.
The needle biopsy isn't always conclusive, but let's see what happens next for you and if you come back with the results, we'll try to help with the next steps (if any).
Best wishes
Barbara

I really appreciate your advice and kind words. I will let you know how I get on. I am not so much worried about the procedure but obviously concerned regarding the results.
Thank you again.
