Hi,
Did anyone go for RAI treatment privately? if yes, can you suggest the name of the private medical and associated cost (roughly) if possible? Going through NHS is always better for the ongoing treatment/scan but as they are taking a lot of time for the RAI appointment, I am bit worried. I don't know how long I have to wait for RAI? it will be probably 3 months or so? is it normal? I wanted to be ready with the alternative option as well in case they delay it for more than 3 months. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Best Regards
I had all my treatment on AXA PPP or BUPA (I forget which, the supplier was changed partway through).
In my part of the country, there are ZERO private options for RAI. Simply put, only the major hospitals have a radiation suite. None of the private hospitals do.
You then have to fit your treatment into the gaps between the regular NHS patients using the rooms.
It may be different in other areas, but I've not heard of any private hospitals that are able to offer RAI.
Best wishes
Barbara

If you live in a different part of the country from me, I don't think my clinic or consultant would be much help to you.
Instead, call the consultant who operated on your wife and ask what are the options if she wanted to go private for RAI. He or she will be able to advise you IF there's any private RAI in your region, as well as what the likely waiting time would be both private and NHS.
Generally, the docs won't put people through RAI until the surgical scars are nicely healed so if your wife only recently had completion, it would be at least a month more - probably more like 3 - before they'd do RAI. And a lot will depend on whether treatment in the radiation suites has been cut back during Covid to prevent brining anybody into a hospital unless it's absolutely critical that they are seen.
Best wishes

Lass is doing brilliantly, thank you for asking.
I spoke to her a few days ago and she was looking forward to Christmas. Most years, I think she feeds half her neighbourhood. She's been keeping very busy and drops by to see how we're all doing but for reasons I can't go into here, she's not posting anymore, Sometimes she tips me off if she's spotted something I missed and thinks it's gone too long unanswered so she's with us in spirit if not on the screen.
Best wishes

Hi Lass, I know you through this forum. I read countless number of posts relevant to my wife's case and I saw it was either you or Barbara stepped in whenever someone asks any question. Its nice to hear from you and great to know you are doing well. May GOD bless you.
Yeh, Barbaral and I were very passionate about this forum and helping people who were scared, worried, angry, just looking for more info, etc.
We are still passionate about helping people where we can. We just lost the passion for this site due to some management changes and decisions. So I'm 99% gone from here now, but happy to pop back if needed. Though Barbaral does an awesome job without me, so needed I am not.
Festive Greetings to you and yours. Stay warm, fed, and happy!
