. Radio iodine treatment Wednesday. Think have all bases covered for going home. Question about bedding when home. Any advice if the mattress needs to be cleaned or protected in any way? Have one mattress protector already. Need another? Change the sheets and double wash how often? Towels too get a double wash?
my recollection is that I was discharged with an information sheet which gave very helpful guidance. The radiation will leave your body in sweat, urine and poo. In hospital drink as much as you can, pee often and shower a couple of times each day. When I came home I stayed away from my grandchildren or anyone I thought may be pregnant for a couple of weeks, I kept 2 metres away from my wife and slept in a separate bed for 2 weeks. I washed my bedding twice a week and towels daily each time washing separately from my wife's clothes. I did not prepare food for the rest of the family and washed my dishes separately. I had two showers each day for the first week and cleaned the shower each time.I drank at least two litres of water/tea/coffee each day and as I am a man I always used the toilet seated..
