Hello all,
So grateful for this forum but sometimes I get stuck in my head and don't make use of it as much as I could.
I'm post full TT and left side dissection, removal of 30 lymph nodes (Dec 2019) and two doses of RAI (Mar and Sept 2020). I had two doses due to another cancerous lymph node being found post surgery and the first dose. My TSH and T4 levels have been a bit up and down as has my does of Levo, I seem to be quite sensitive to it. Currently I'm on 100mg mon to fri and 75mg at the weekend (when they reduced it to 50mg at the weekend the palpitations reduced considerably but they want me on a higher dose for a while longer due to the lymph node and being categorised high risk).
My question is has anyone else experience being on a lower dose but still experiencing lots of unpleasant palpitations? Last night I had them nearly all through the night. And generally feeling a bit poo! I'm trying to lower stress but they really worry me and don't help with all the holistic things I'm trying to do to heal this...
Best wishes to all.
Hi fjw25,
Yes,I've had this symptom and they are really horrible. I was on a low does then was put onto an extra 25mg. About 4 days later started getting the symptoms. My consultant flat out ruled out my thyroxine however my gp disagreed. We worked out that since my meds were up'd it was a different make of thyroxine I had been taking because my usual pharmacy didn't have any in stock so went to a different pharmacy and they buy in a different brand. I also took higher dose every 3days going back to original dose for other days I done this for a month then tried the higher dose and had no symptoms. Obviously check with consultant before you try anything with medication as they have your full history.
My gp said different of brands use different extra ingredients to make up the pill which could the reason for changes and simply your body may just need time to become used to levels. Also you have been through surgery and could it possibly be anxiety?
Hopefully you get it sorted and feel better soon, hate that feeling because there's nothing you can do about them and it makes you worse because you start to focusing on it sometimes feels ten times worse.
Morto xx
Hi Morto,
Thanks so much for getting back to me, it makes such a difference knowing other people have experienced similar and its not just me 'making a fuss' or being extra sensitive to the meds! My consultant is also very reluctant to say anything is the levothyroxine, but it seems from my self monitoring that an extra 50mg a week can make a big difference to me. Fortunately it's been better the last few days. Thank goodness as I had some really rough nights with it, hopefully it will stay settled. My GP also adjusted my BP meds which may have made a difference. Glad to hear that things have settled for you with your meds.
Keep safe and well.
All the best xx
No problem! Glad to hear you are feeling better and who would expect a small extra tablet to make such a impact!
