Has anyone had swollen parotid gland/salty bloody taste in their mouth after radioactive iodine? I had this treatment in 2021 but my oncologist said although unusual, can come on years after having it.
It's interesting to read this as I've had issues with swelling that could be linked to the parotid glands on both sides of my face since I had my RAI treatment in October 2023. Things have settled a little but I still have some asymmetrical swelling.
In terms of experiencing a strange taste in my mouth I did have an unpleasant metallic taste in my mouth during the first 8 months in particular after treatment. Now I have a milder version of it and I try to combat that by staying well hydrated.
Did your Oncologist tell you why such things happen for some people?
