I had a thyroid nodule FNA done 5 weeks ago, I was referred by my gp for ultrasound and the largest nodule was classes u3 so they did a FNA there and then.
there has been no results so far, I rang the hospital they told me my gp has to chase it as he referred me, the gp has said he hasn’t received any results. I have no specialist (was told I should have one) they referred me to endocrinology but they declined the referral saying I need ent. So I was referred to ent and haven’t heard anything either.
im so confused has this happened to anyone ? Everything I google says 2 weeks, I was told at the time of FNA it would be two weeks for results.
I would rather just know , it’s the waiting that’s so frustrating!

  • Hi boredisme123 welcome to the forum. Talk about getting the run around between services that's a shocker. It can take longer for some results to come back than others and as the originator was the GP then I imagine that's where results will return to. I would give them another call explain your situation and ask the GP to put some pressure on to hurry these results up for you. My GP has access to the hospital system so if I've had tests done they can usually access the system to see these? Is that annotation at your GP practice? Do let us know how you get on..Best wishes.Gail

  • Hi. Not had a similar experience but I have learned by going through treatment for a thyroid nodule that you need to keep on top of the various players. Time to contact the GP, explain you were given a 2 week response target and ask them to chase the hospital as your wait is well outside that and your anxiety is not helped by the wait.
