Hi guys!
So I am 3 years post TT and my TG after treatment in October 2018 was 0.12 in August 2020 it was 0.2 and in Feb this year was 0.3. Can anyone offer any advice as to whether I need to worry? Or have repeat RAI? I have my consult on 6th April but just want to be prepared.
Thanks

Hi . My consultant advised me that anything sub 0.5 is a good place to be and it may be as simple as an adjustment to your medication.  Good luck .

  • Thanks daddavis, I thought that was the case. I just need reassurance constantly for these things! Plus I worry that it’s creeping up and might need repeat RAI in future. I would rather mentally prepare myself for that if it was a possibility! X

  • Do you have your TSH results that correspond to each of those Tg results? Sometimes a slight upward trend can come with a reduced level of TSH suppression.

  • Hi barbaral I haven’t seen many posts from you on here recently! I know you are usually quite a regular so hope you are well?
So when my tg was 0.2 in august last year my TSH was like 8.9 then I had my levo increased and the 0.3 tg recently my TSH was I think 0.9

    what are your thoughts?

  • Hi Lydia,
I'm 10.5 years post-diagnosis now and there's (touch wood) nothing I need to come here for any more. I just drop by once in a while to see what's going on. The alerts don't seem to work so I don't get any news in my inbox about what's going on. But if you want me, just tag my name and I think those alerts WILL work.

Do you know what your target TSH is supposed to be? I'd guess that the target would probably be lower than 0.9 (but 0.9 is WAY better than 8.9. A rise from 0.2 to 0.3 is not something you probably need to be overly concerned about. Sometimes doctors send the sample to different labs or the same lab uses a different machine, and a small difference like that may not be significant. Keep in mind that the level considered 'normal' by the test labs is a level for somebody WITH a thyroid so it's much higher than what you're getting.  Most tests will be done on people with thyroids and sometimes equipment is set to be most accurate around the typical range and not at the outliers and mostly we are outliers to their normal range.

Let's see what the docs say after Easter. I'm sure they'll help to set your mind at rest.

    Best wishes
