8mm nodule on Isthmus part of Thyroid strong suspicion of Cancer Thy4.

Hi I had a 1cm papillary carcinoma thyroid cancer on isthmus. I had total thyroidectomy which went OK but I now have to take calcium supplements maybe for life as its been nearly 2 years. If you can have surgery I would opt for surgery.

Thankyou for this.Can I ask you why you opted for surgery and not surveillance?

I was told to have surgery I was only given choice of partial or total thyroidectomy but because isthmus is closed to edge it could spread if left untreated if it is cancer. I was on melanoma treatment when they found it otherwise I would of not known about it.

Hope you’re doing well now.I had seen how something on the Isthmus has more potential to expand but I go for an ultrasound every 3 months can have the op if not happy with this set up .Thanks so much for responding .

Hi im doing OK now. I'm on surveillance for melanoma which still all clear. That's good your getting it checked every few months so at least if it got bigger you can have it out.

Lovely to hear you’re doing well.Im 65 so surveillance seen as a good option for now,but if the medics advise to remove I will follow their advice!
