Hi everyone
I would not even know where to start but to keep it short I am in the process of looking for a secondary school for my 10 year old It is all great but both times I have had rai it wiped me out last dose was two and a half weeks ago. like the last time I have joint pains all over even though my Mets is just in lymph nodes Again I am also feeling like a ripping pain in my shoulder and back when I even try to carry my handbag. Doc says it will go (like they said the last time) but it took forever before and I am struggling to do these tours and just keeping up with my son in general. Bloods were ok except low calcium and I am on high doses to keep this up to normal levels parathyroid are fine
Just want to know is there anyone out there that has gone through this and has had to do this secondary transfer at the same time if so how did you cope is there anything that can make it easier coping with pain (take pain meds but just makes me go to sleep) besides resting which is the only other thing that eases the pain
Rant over
Heya Rosegirl,
Just to check, when you say bloods were fine do you know what they checked? Was Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, folate levels, and all the red and white blood cells counted and checked?
You mention that the pain meds make you fall asleep, have you tried a different type or a lower dose? What about anti-inflammatories? Have you tried soaking in a bath? Or going swimming or just sitting in a jacuzzi?
Are you making sure that you take your thyroxine first thing, then waiting at least 4 hours before taking your calcium?

Hey Lass
Thank you for your reply So basically because I had a gastric bypass nearly three years sgo I have to have all my bloods checked They all came back normal except calcium I also take high dose multi vitamin supplements and alfacalcidol which is a high dose vitamin d Also take ferritin twice a day for iron.
I'm asthmatic and cannot tolerate ibuprofen but I do take paracetamol as well. So bath is out of the question as we have a wet room because my husband has a disability that meant it was totally unsafe to have a bath ( I do miss having a long soak) I sometimes sit on the bath chair and just let the warm shower water beat on my back and that helps while in the shower.
As for swimming I am booked to start 4 weeks of hydrotherapy sessions because surgery left me with limited movement in my arms reaching up or trying to triggers pain like I'm trying to force my arms to move upwards but they dont
As for the jacuzzi I would love to try that just need to find one near to me
My issue is trying to keep up with the form filling and travelling from one school to another. I just feel wiped out and very little energy
Ps cant stop thinking about the jacuzzi can feel those bubbles lol xx
Heya Rosegirl,
Lots of complicated things going on there then!
So, first off. You need to take your thyroxine first thing. Then you need to wait a minimum of 30 mins before eating or drinking anything, or taking any other meds. However, you need to wait a minimum of 4 hours before you take your calcium, and a minimum of 6 hours before you take your ferritin. Double check your multivitamins, if they are free of calcium and iron they can be taken after the 30 min time frame. But if they have iron or calcium in them then you need to follow the rules for them.
Do you know what your TSH and T4 numbers are? If so, are you comfortable sharing them?
And I'm going to a spa on the 12th, so looking forward to a water massage bed they have where you lie in a pool and jets of water hit you from different angles to massage you!
