Hi there everyone,
I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in one testicle in March 2022. Underwent an orchidectomy in April 2022. Decided against an artificial testicle with rate of infection being higher. It was only a stage 1 seminoma so I count myself very lucky.
I recovered from the operation well, but since then it’s all gone backwards for me and I’m experiencing some side effects -I’m not sure if these are linked in-but they include Covid (Meh!),B12 deficiency and extreme tiredness/lack of energy.
Has been making me feel quite down if I’m honest, and being a decent runner before,I’m now really struggling.
Wanted to ask if anyone has experienced anything like this post operation and recovery? Am I being too hard on myself?
For info I haven’t needed chaemo and my B12 issue meant I had injections starting 3 weeks ago.
Thanks all
Hi!
I had a stage one tumour but did also have adjuvant chemo. My operation was at the end of 2021. It’s only really been the last 2 months I’ve started running again (due to other issues inc. covid and a bad back). I have no issues with vitamin deficiencies that I am aware of (I’ve had one 3 month check up) but I am pretty tired and need an hour sleep in the day, almost every day. I work from home so it’s not an issue and most people around me say “you’re body just needs to sleep”. Not sure they are qualified doctors but I’m not worried.

That’s interesting-thanks!
I hope your running is going well, and I get the tiredness element for sure (also work from home 3/4 days per week).
im not going to pressure it,but just try to enjoy running.albeit slowly.
Hi. Would be worth talking to your GP to check your testosterone levels. Many people don't experience any significant drop, but some do. The tiredness could be due to coved or something else. I was experiencing some, but not all, symptoms of low t but my t levels were measuring ok. Turns out it was a rare, but known, side effect of my ace inhibitor blood pressure meds.
Best wishes
G
Thank you that’s something I will speak to my GP about, much appreciated
