Hi, I am a 50 year old man who had left testicle removed 2 months ago. Everything went well and I’ve felt positive throughout.
I had meeting with specialist last week who recommended I had one 1 hour session of carboplatin to ensure no stray cancer cells left in body.
I really don’t know what to do, I feel worse about the thought of chemo than I felt about operation. Has anyone else had this? How invasive is the chemo and how bad are side effects? I work in construction industry, would I be off for a while?

i had a cycle of chemo,for similar reasons, I had an extra risk factor after the lab results and the Oncologist felt it was the right thing to do. I like the numbers (statistics!). And the difference in outcomes for patients without the chemo to with it made me want to have it.
I was about 56 so a bit older and felt a bit shabby for a 2-3 weeks as I recall. Maybe longer to be fully fit. We are all different, if you read on here there are other folks who,have talked about it. Some uk trusts do a cycle in say three visits. I had one session, the Dr called it a decent sized dose!
Only you can decide really…. You could,ask your nurse specialist or the Consultant to talk you through the numbers for patients who do and don’t have the chemo ?? I mean the number of patients who had a recurrence within say 2 years with or without the chemo.. (they will,explain it better than that 
)
