Awaiting having RPLND Operation just wondered if anyone else on here has had this operation and would like to share their experience?
No Mike that's not me. Site telling me comment under review.? So I cant view on here? Just seen photo in my email box. I still dont have a date yet was told hopefully May after been told June ?
Its my . My english is not the best. That picture it is after 5 days from surgery. The surgery was on 25 november after 3xBEP. The limph node that take out from retroperitoneu was negativ. No leaving tumor cells. Now i still have some pain in the back and in the chest. The surgery was made in Trondheim Norway.
Hope everything goes ok for you, glad to here they found no more cancer. I'm really apprehensive but still no date yet for op. The photo looks horrific hope you have fully recovered . All the best.
Hi,
Im new to this forum, i was wondering if anyone can help me.
Ive recently recived my results from my ct scan and it shows it has spread to one of my Lymph nodes which was 13mm. I have a Non seminoma type tumor and have been advised to have 3 cycles of BEP chemo. Now my question is with Non seminoma tumors, is RPLND surgery always needed, even if the Lymph node shrinks to 10mm or below? Itd just the whole surgery scares me and the fact it causes retrogade ejaculation is a big no no for me. I have done a bit of research and cant seem to find a concrete answer on whether stage 2 non seminomas require the RPLND surgery after chemo.
Any advide would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Mike sorry left it so long. I had my RPLND op on 19th May and in surgery for 9 hours. I was kept in 14 days very hard having no visitors. Had cellulitis infection and put on antibiotics drip and oral tablets when discharged. When home have district nurse come every day and still coming now over 8 weeks later. My staples were taken out and wound opened up couple of days after coming out and wound required packing today its nearly healed. Had another infection 2 weeks ago and was taken back into hospital this time York for 4 days on antibiotics again. Today feeling better but still get very tired and pain's in stomach. Have been told my lymph nodes were necrotic dead tissue so told I am in Full Remission which I'm ecstatic about. Now I am on surveilance. Surgeon was correct when he told me because of my age it would take a long time for me to recover.
