Hello im struggling with things at the moment as my husband has been in hospital for 9 weeks, after being admitted through A&E. He has been told it’s stage 4 stomach cancer with complete obstruction, so has really been through it. Any advice would really help as I’m unsure how I can help any further, thank you

  • I’m really sorry to hear this. All you can do is be there for him and be kind to yourself. You are both going through a very difficult situation. Do you have any support around you? Sending love & strength x

  • Thank you,

I do have adult children who are wonderful, it’s just I worry perhaps I’m not asking all the right questions and the weeks are passing and we are no nearer getting passed onto oncology.

  • Glad your children are a support to you. Have they not discussed your options with you? Maybe they’ve spoken to your husband? It’s so hard, I suppose all you can do is ask how them what the plan is? What’s the next step etc. I wish you all the best xx

  • Hello,my husband has had stage 4 stomach cancer for the last two years.Recently he had an obstruction in his stomach and he had a bypass operation, called a gastrojejunostomy this was an emergency palliative  operation and has made it possible to be able to eat and drink again.Dont know if this is something your husband could have but maybe worth mentioning.Hope you get some answers soon

    • Thank you , I’m sorry to hear about your husband too, at the moment they have operated 4 weeks ago with a view to remove the stomach. But the operation was abandoned due to the spread to lymph nodes and peritoneum. He has been advised to have a stent which was very tricky and took 3 attempts over 2 weeks but is now in. So far he has not been able tolerate more than small sips of water. It’s good to know there are other surgical options and really appreciate the reply and info.
  • Thank you all, it’s been a real struggle and a very isolating one , it’s been nice to have somewhere to seek other people’s advice.
