Hi - new here. My husband was diagnosed with p16 positive tonsil cancer last may.  We finished treatment for that when by chance a CT scan found a mass in his gastrohepatic area.  It took multiple biospies to learn is was a totally unrelated stomach cancer and the mass is a necrotic lymph node.  It's really hard to believe 2 separare cancers in 1 year.  Truthfully they don't know which came 1st. My husband had fundoplasty surgery years ago to repair a weak esophagus and the cancer is wrapped up inside that surgical area.  We've completed 4 FLOT treatments, 2 herceptin and are preparing for a sub-total gasterectomy next week.  I'm here to keep myself informed and educated.  I am trying to learn whatever i can to help him.  It family is me,  him and our most previous toddler. We lost our furbaby last month and are devastated.  Thanks for having me in thus group

  • Welcome to our group! You and your husband have been through a really tough time! Hopefully the surgery will go well and he can begin recovery!

Eating after a gastrectomy takes time! I had a partial gastrectomy six years ago and now eat pretty much as before albeit smaller portions.  I found information from the Oesophageal Patient Association really helpful

And a book called The Art of Eating without a Stomach!
Both helped me to feel more in control of my recovery and plan how I was going to help my new plumbing to adjust!

Do post any questions as there are a number of people who can share their experiences!

    Hope all goes well!
