2 weeks ago my husband collapsed in our bedroom & my daughter found him & this is where our learning to live with cancer began. My husband had been Ill for a while since he was 30 he has suffered from TIA’s which camouflaged his symptoms of cancer his last TIA was in 2017 which has caused a lot of health concerns but the last year he has looked like death tbh & his spark had left him. We were all were saying it’s because of TIA’s impact but it turned out to be stomach cancer. He’s been on blood thinners because of the tia’s but the tumour in his stomach caused an ulcer which was bleeding so to stop the bleeding they reversed the blood thinner which it did & then he got a blood clot so they had to thin his blood again. Treatment for cancer still has not happened or been mentioned because of this & I am scared as to what’s going to happen. I continue to go to work  etc living in a bubble which bursts when everyone’s in bed my husband is still in hospital which gives some relief that he’s in the best place but what I’d like to know when did everyone receive their plan as to treating their cancer?

  • I am so sorry to read your post and to hear how unwell your husband is.  There’s a lot of information that the medical team need to decide on a treatment plan.  Then it goes to a MDT…Multi Disciplinary Team.  They decide on treatment.
It is the worst time when someone you love is so unwell and you are in a state of shock and extreme anxiety.
Your phrase ‘living in a bubble’ is so true!  It might be worth getting support from your local Maggie’s Centre if there’s one near you. MacMillan also have a helpline and offer counselling.
Once you know what you’re dealing with, it’s easier.
Do use this Forum there’s lots of lovely people who can share your experience.   There’s a Carers only forum which has others in your situation.
    Take care xx
