Hi everyone,

This is my first time joining any kind of forum in relation to this but I lost my dad to his gastrointestinal cancer in February 2023, he was diagnosed in  December 2022. It all happened so quickly and sadly he succumbed to an infection which was contracted through his PICC line which was completely unavoidable.

honestly just looking for people to talk to and relate to, I’m only 24 and it’s hard to understand why life has been so cruel 2+ months in.

  • Hi

I am really sorry to hear about your dad.  It’s so hard to cope with the grief you feel when someone you love so much dies.  You might find the group for Bereaved Family and Friends provides support with others who are going through the same grief

    Take care

Life is what happens when you are making other plans!

  • Sorry to read your news. Getting your head round that a loved one has cancer is hard enough but to lose them so quickly after diagnosis and due to an infection through their piccline! You must be going through every emotion linked to grief and I’m sending virtual hugs and praying that you are given the strength to come through this. You really must get in touch with the bereavement councillors.

  • Hi,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad… what an emotional time for you and your family… I hope you can find some comfort in talking to a bereavement councillor.
    Sending hugs

  • Hi,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad, it sounds like you have been through a few traumatic months. Nobody should have to deal with the loss of a parent so young, I hope that you and your family can find some comfort in each other. Please consider some of the suggestions made by the group or an alternative councillor as sometimes it’s easier to express our feelings to people who we aren’t particularly close to. Sending love and hugs to you and your family.
