stomach cancer
Hi and welcome to our group! You will get lots of support here from lovely people who have gone through the agony of waiting for the results of biopsies! It’s the worst time as you always imagine the worst! Have they said it is stomach cancer?
Not knowing what you are dealing with is so hard! But there will be a treatment plan and it does get easier once you know!
I always found it helpful to do things to distract me. Going for a walk, doing things that made me happy…
Do post more information or questions and someone who has been through it, will answer!
Take care x
Jac
how do i tell people what is really goning on in my mind
it is malignant cancer
how long do biopsies take for result
when do i get the result
i had a staging laparoscopy and OGD
i belly button is very sore
i have not really slept properly for 2 nights
This is the worst stage.. the Multi Disciplinary Team will meet to discuss the treatment plan. They will need all the information and you may have more scans. I had two MRIs because there was a spot on my liver which was a worry!
The biopsy results took about two weeks I think and there was a lot of uncertainty for me as to what the treatment plan was going to be.
If you have a Maggie’s Centre near you, it would be worth contacting them as I found them really helpful. I used a Mindfulness app Headspace to manage the panic and anxiety. MacMillan are also great and you can give their Helpline a call.
There are many people who survive stomach cancer and go through treatment to lead a normal person.
I was diagnosed seven years ago and now eat and drink much as before. So hold on to Hope..there will be a treatment plan for you!

Hi, I had treatment last year, 4 rounds of chemo then a gastrectomy followed by more chemo, I have recovered well and just about back to normal with eating and drinking, still avoid some foods but it’s trial and error, all in all I’m doing well, it’s difficult waiting for scan/ biopsies results but try and do something you like doing that’s not too physically demanding. It gets easier when you get a plan of care as it gives you something to focus on, best wishes and good luck to you
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
