I am 2 months post gastrectomy and struggling with severe constant nausea. Eating and drinking are challenging. Anti sickness medication has little effect. Am losing weight . Id appreciate any words of advice/ support

  • Please contact your specialist nurse, team they should be able to help you, try very small amounts of food every couple of hours and try sips of fluids in between this, But I would definitely get some advice

  • Sorry to hear that your recovery isn’t going so well.  It’s challenging to eat when you feel nauseous.  I would contact your Specialist Nurse though you should also have a follow up appointment with the surgeon.  Your GP could help too.  Some anti sickness meds might help.  Eating tiny amounts often is the best way forward and not eating and drinking at the same time.
I found my diet changed after surgery and I ate high protein and high calorie foods in small quantities, gradually building it up.

    Hope you feel better soon
