I am 2 months post gastrectomy and struggling with severe constant nausea. Eating and drinking are challenging. Anti sickness medication has little effect. Am losing weight . Id appreciate any words of advice/ support
Sorry to hear that your recovery isn’t going so well. It’s challenging to eat when you feel nauseous. I would contact your Specialist Nurse though you should also have a follow up appointment with the surgeon. Your GP could help too. Some anti sickness meds might help. Eating tiny amounts often is the best way forward and not eating and drinking at the same time.
I found my diet changed after surgery and I ate high protein and high calorie foods in small quantities, gradually building it up.
Hope you feel better soon
Jac
Thankyou for your resonse. Ive already contacted my specialist team and unfortunately nothing more can be done re nausea. Even drinking is difficult. Any tips/ suggestions for making drinking easier and suggestions for high protein snacks would be very welcome. Its incredibly challenging
