Hello all,
Im coming to the last few days of my 3 week free fluid diet post total gastrectomy.
I have been given fortisips and told to drink minimum 2, ideally 3 a day to help slow down weight loss.
Things were okay but the last few days the fortisips cause me to feel nauseous, light headed and tired really quickly. Im drinking it over 30 minutes and have been trying to take it slower since this started happening but the problem starts before I've even finished drinking it.
Im hoping when I move to soft food diet on Saturday and progress further I wont need to rely so much on protein drinks. Is this what people have found?
Has anyone else has a bad experience with fortisip? Are there other protein drinks anyone can recommend?
I saw this on FB, which says it has no sugar, but scared to try random new things at this early stage.
Any advice would be really appreciated. Im starting to worry how I'm ever meant to lead a normal life and work if all I do is try to eat and drink during the day whilst feeling rough afterwards
Hi all,
Has anyone tried Form protein powder? It gets good reviews but not sure if it's right for the purpose of post TG nutrition.
Thanks.C
I have tried a few supplements provided by my dietician. Fortisip was 'disgusting' as were a couple of others and difficult to swallow / digest. However, I now have one I can tolerate so my dietician has provided an ongoing prescription for it. It is called Actagain complete and is a light milkshake in various flavours.
I also make my own shake. I blend full fat milk, milk powder, banana and ice cream and it is high in calories. You can combine these as you wish and to your taste.
Good luck
David
