  • Hi, you can do this, good luck !

  • It’s genuinely amazing what medics can do and how the body can adapt. Of course it will take some time to adjust but go now and try to enjoy your favourite foods and drinks beforehand. Good luck!

  • Let us know how it went. Just remember, the early progress is measured in days and then weeks, but keep an eye on the one year post-op goal. This is where you’ll be able to reassess the new life and see it’s not that bad.

  • So far so good having bouts on high and low temperature been given paracetamol to counter this. Just had bloods then this morning checking for infection God forbid as am using the spital ball well breathing, coughing and walking exercise all good staff look at me bewildered yesterday after surgery mooching around hospital.  I am not thinking of C keep saying I ain't got it denail has helped me cope.

  • Well done you and just keep thinking the cancer is now in the bin and best place for it. Keep up the good work you’re doing and you’ll be home soon. By the way it’s my husband who has had his stomach out. Good luck xx

  • Day 8 after surgery done 2 leak test all good started on soups and sweets yesterday. I came in 85.5kg down to 78 kg now lost that little in 8 days.

Mood strength overall is good am hoping to get a discharge date today.

Team has been amazing at sjuh and all the staff. One thing I have done is spend a lot of my time in the day room. Away from the bed. That has helped me too mentally looking at fresh non hospital air!

If they ask you to do breathings exercise push your self it increases lung capacity perhaps to compensate loss of stomach. And it also helps with stomach muscles as coughing becoming ww3.  So breathing helps

  • Well done, onwards and upwards!

  • Hi, just read your posts after your surgery. Has really eased our minds as hubby goes for his surgery next week, so helpful to read what others have gone through and thank you so much for the tips post op.

Hope you are continuing your recovery well and have been discharged, onwards on upwards to you and my hubby once his surgery day comes x
