Good evening all

I am having a bit of a wobble about Chemo, not even seen chemo doctor's  yet

My mind is running wild, and I've not even taken my own advice about Doctor Google

I think i am going to have Flot but cannot stop being anxious  about and scared at same time

I know i can rely on this group for help and support

  • Hi

Chemo isn’t easy but it passes and everyone has a different reaction.  The thing to remember is there is a medical team that are there to help you through it!  I found the first cycle difficult but the specialist nurse gave me good advice and I got through it!

There are anti sickness meds and the side effects pass!
The benefits are considerable.. in my case it eradicated the cancer!  But it will usually reduce the tumour and reduce the chance of recurrence!

Others will provide advice and help you through this!

It is a step along the road to get rid of cancer!!

  • Hi, I was very scared too… I had 8 rounds of FLOT and it was very nice, the nausea feeling, diarrhoea, loosing your appetite, feeling tired etc. But everyone experiences are different with side effects. I’ve heard some people that have little or no side effects. Don’t google as it’s very scary to read. You’ll have a good oncology team behind you and they will adjust your medication to help with any symptoms you may experience. I had different types of anti sickness medication until one helped.  Have plenty of diarolyte sachets in the cupboard as they help big time. You’ll be given a helpline number to call if symptoms persist and I phoned a couple a times and it helped me. Just try and stay positive, say to yourself ‘I can get through this’ .
    Take care
