So after quite a lengthy period of bowts of stomach pain and taking medication a different doctor at my surgery sugested i stop the medication in case it was masking something, and unfortunately the pain returned so i was sent for an endoscopy which was done by a surgeon who knew right away that i had stomach cancer, biopsies were taken and i was sent for a CT scan. An mdt meeting was held and i was informed of the outcome, I had Arenocarcinoma cancer (T3 N1 M x) The M could not be determined as there was an indeterminate left lower lobe pulminary micro nodule that was to be monitored
I now have a staging Laproscopy in two days time which will determine which route of treatment i go down. The hope is that the cancer has not spread into the fluids around my stomach which will mean i go on to a course of chemo 4 x 2 weekly followed by a Gastrectomy and then more chemotherapy with a view to a cure.
I have to say how impressed i am with the speed at which things have gone so far and i am also staying positive with the journey ahead. For information i am a 62 year old male normally fit and well with fantastic support from my wife and best friend Jo.
Hi thanks for letting me know. Trust me I feel so lonely sometimes as there are not much info or help out there. This group keeps me going.
I had a bad day today. My legs and feet were aching and lost appetite.
I also feel tired. I am not sure but I think could be lack of iron. I will request blood test soon. I will start taking vitamins and will see if it makes a difference. Also make sure you are getting your B12 injections, that could be the reason. My surgeon told me to only take injection not tablets as it won’t work. He said some doctors will tell you to take tablets but say no to them. Take care xx
Mine was on the 7th. I didn't touch or wash my wound and had towel bath. I am chewing my food a lot, like 20 times which is helping.
I am taking time in everything. I was eating few spoons every two hours then I changed it to every hour just so my body can get used to it. Listen to your body and take one step at a time. I am using gaviscon, and pepper mint tea for bile. It’s not easy but you will get there. Xx
Hi Ahuss,
I start my post op Chemo on Wednesday so will let you know, I still suffer with neuropathy quite bad in my feet from my pre op chemo back in February and have been told that could get worse.
When is your post op chemo?
I think it will be soon as I am seeing oncologist on Wednesday to discuss this.
What are the sign of neuropathy? When I walk my feet’s hurt from my heal and legs are also in pain. is it something similar?
I also received a letter from genetic service. They are talking about taking my blood test to see if it matches to CDH1 gene. I must say it’s pretty scary. It talks about if i have this genes then my kids might have it and also I will have to have breast screening as it is also associated with lobular Breast cancer. If I am positive then they offer the option of double mastectomy. I must say I have not recovered from this yet and now this letter about blood test is very frightening.
Hi, I found it a wee bit easier apart from not being able to be sick so was retching a lot… neuropathy was a lot easier too as I managed to eat ice cream. Tiredness was the same and loss of appetite… I don’t know whether it was because I knew what was coming again, with all the experiences…
Hi just to add my husband also takes turmeric , I don’t know if taking that has anything to do with not having dumping syndrome but he hasn’t, he’s been taking it for a few years. Someone on another site also said their husband takes it and hasn’t had dumping, that post was taken down though as it’s not been proved x
Hi my chemo after surgery was on the 5th of October. I never felt so ill. The medication such as sickness tablets or oral morph did not work on me. I was throwing up, weird taste and mainly headache were so bad. I wanted to bang my head against walls as I could not take headache. They changed my sickness tablet to another sickness tablet. But with that i started to hallucinate. I ended up in hospital for four days. At the end they had to stop all meds give my water drip and cyclizine sickness tablet through skin. I am home now and recovering. Any thing I eat makes me feel like I can’t breathe and it’s stuck in my mouth. Doctor has given me extra week off and will see me on the 18th to discuss future treatment. I am really scared and really don’t want to go through that feeling again. I have noticed since I don’t have stomach any tablets I take is having more severe effects on body.
Hi Ahuss
Sorry to hear your continued problems I had my 2nd chemo post op o the 4th Oct 2two sessions yo go and hopefully the feeling constant tired and sick will be over. The oncologist did tone down one of my drugs due to really bad neuropathy in my feet which I have had since March.
Hope you get through the rest without any more problems.
Mick.
