Hello
my names Vicky, I’m 36 (diagnosed at 31). I have Leiomyosarcoma, initially in my womb which was removed but seems a little too late as it’s spread to my peritoneum. I’ve had 7 cycles of chemotherapy which ended February 2020, sadly I still haven’t recovered from the side effects and the cancer started to grow again in January 2021.
I've decided to decline more chemotherapy as I’m still suffering daily from the last lot plus I have severe radiation damage to my bowel.
I don’t know many people living with Leiomyosarcoma and wanted to reach out.
I feel so lost and alone and I’m now ‘clinically depressed’ and I’m really struggling with my hand in life.
Thanks
Vicky
Hope all goes well and wish you all the best!
How are you Jinny, how do you feel?
I’m feeling well.
I have multiple metastases mainly in the abdominal area. Primary was in the stomach, removed in Aug 2020 but metastasis was identified pretty early, March 2021. Since then I am now in my second series of chemo after a 6 month break over the summer. Coping well physically and mentally. Can’t complain.
Let me know if you want to talk, happy to.
Dimitris
Thank you Dimitris. At the moment I'm coping okay, still recovering from January surgery physically and remaining mentally normal - though of course my husband would dispute that that has ever been the case.
Has the chemo helped with your mets? What are they giving you, hope it hasn't been too horrible taking it.
It's very kind of you to be there when i need to talk, a nice safety net. Obviously I'm always happy to hear from you :-)
Good to know that you are recovering from surgery and coping well.
Chemo has helped in controlling my mets so far. We will be checking progress via CT scan end of the month and will be taking it from there.
Take care!
So glad to hear chemo is helping. We can swap scan results at end of month. There's a loaded invitation if ever there was... xxx
Hi,
My mum has experienced the same devastating news. They gave her 3 sessions of chemotherapy (doxorubicin) which was not successful. They withdrew treatment and said "months". They have now come up with another form of palliative chemo called Gemcitibine. I'd like to know if anyone has experience of this. I'm trying to cope with losing my beautiful mum and it's the hardest thing in the world.
Hi @jayjay - my wife Janice has had Doxorubicin and Gemcatabine and in her case the Gemcatabine rendered her cancer stable and it has been that way for some years now. The consultant seems very pleased and is actually talking of discharging her to GP care
<<hugs>>
