I have recently had the above and have been told it is a very rare form.  But, have been very luck in that I have had it removed.  I am worried that I don't have links to Swansea only through my consultant.  I been told to come back in July for a CT Scan and maybe having tablets to help.  What happens with this virus now?  Am or are people with Sarcoma / recently recovering from it under the vunerable criteria ?

I hope all are ok and I send my very best wishes to you all.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you were recently diagnosed with a very rare form of sarcoma but that's good news that you've had it removed.

Having not had this type of cancer I don't know if you fall within the vulnerable category in the coronavirus guidelines. I'm tagging this group's champion into my reply as he'll hopefully be able to help with this question.

In the meantime you might like to take a look at this information that Macmillan have produced about cancer and the coronavirus. If you are in any doubts as to whether you should follow stricter guidelines than the general ones issued to all of us then I'd strongly suggest that you contact your CNS for guidance.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi , my wife has Leiomyosarcoma too but hers is now scattered through her lung and is so not removable but thanks to a couple of rounds of chemotherapy it is stable and has been that way for over six years now.

Certainly I can relate to issues around having a rarer form of cancer, most GPs and other doctors we go to see will end up looking up LMS on wikipedia giving a great degree of confidence!

Janice has not had the "vulnerable person" letter but did speak to our GP the other day about a diabetes related issue and he advised her to try to minimise exposure.

Sarcoma UK have some more specific advice here that might help.

    Hope that helps.

    <<hugs>>
