Hello, everyone, I am new in this group... yesterday I got my results of the biopsy and the came positive and liposarcoma confirmed... I feel quite positive so far, expecting to start my treatment. I am still waiting for a scan to be sure it has no spread anywhere else.

so far the plan is radiotherapy and afterward surgery to remove the lump.

I would like to know how can I help my relatives to deal with this in the best way, especially my hubby who has been like he doesn't want to talk about it. I understand that it could be scary.

thank you

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with liposarcoma but it's great that you're feeling positive.

I haven't had this type of cancer, so don't have any experience to draw on to help with your questions about radiotherapy and surgery, but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. I'm going to tag my fellow Community Champion into this reply as he looks after this group and will hopefully be able to explain about the treatments.

I have found this information on surgery for soft tissue sarcomas and this about radiotherapy for soft tissue sarcomas that Macmillan have produced. It might help your relatives and husband to understand what might be happening.

When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi , glad to see latchbrook was able to give you some really good links about the sarcoma, we actually have no experience of radiotherapy as my wifes form of sarcoma is somewhat different.

One thing that might help your hubby is perhaps some of the information in I'm looking after someone with cancer as it can be quite hard.
