Hi all

I'm not 100% sure if I should even be on here just yet but felt it would be nice to talk to people who understand.

A pet scan has revealed a 4.5cm mass in my stomach and close to my transverse colon.

They think it is a gist but could be a lymphoma,I've known this for a month and still have to wait another 2 weeks for a biopsy

It's been utter hell,I'm sick with worry as I'm a single mum with a toddler,

I'm very confused about GIST as some sites just say cancer and others mention benign, could someone please tell me which is true.

Thank you so much in advance

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

Waiting for results and tests is always an anxious time and there's no easy answer on how to cope. However, please stay off google as much of the information is out of date. If you want to find accurate information then look on this site or Cancer Research UK.

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies and it might be because you've posted in the soft tissue sarcoma group. Could I suggest that you join and post your question about GISTs in the stomach cancer group. You may also want to join the Hodgkin lymphoma group if you want to ask about lymphomas.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then post a question or introduce yourself after selecting 'start a discussion' and respond to existing posts by clicking on 'reply'.

When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
