Forehead Flap not successfully ‘taking’ :-(

Hi everyone :-) Posting on behalf of my hubby, who’s 2 weeks post-op for forehead flap surgery, but part of the flap appears to have ‘died’ & I wondered if anyone else has experienced this, as it’s quite rare, apparently. He had MOHs surgery for infiltrative BCC on his nostril & it took 3 x passes as it was a very extensive tumour. The forehead flap surgery was the following day, using cartilage from his ear to help rebuild. He had his follow-up appointment this week & the surgeon said what we’d thought was just very dark scabbing on the edge of the flap was most likely dead tissue Cry He’s scheduled to have the separation op in 3 weeks but we now have a massive fear of more tissue dying & the op failing completely :-(

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I haven't had a forehead flap but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
