Ive , Im new to this site and have just managed to get in , IVE been very muddled but with the help of the community support and a friend I think I may be there and going to put some info about myself and ask for advise ( this is probably the wrong place sorry)

Im 85 live alone.

had both breast and bowel cancer, the later quite horrific.

just had a SSC removed from my cheek ( near my eye) very happy with the skin graft results.

follow up appointment I was told due to lack of the margins they would like to offer me radiotherapy, frightened me to death , I asked for a letter to put all the details in as my memory not that good and very shocked by this ( letter not received yet ) op done in October.

i chased this yesterday .

i have a load of questions to ask hospital as feel I should find the facts out before ruling out treatment completely.

my operation was done in the lister hospital , under east Herts nhs, they offered me treatment at mount Verón hospital which is a dreadful place for me to get to ,

im wondering how I go about asking to be referred to Addensbrook hospital in Cambridge under th choice of hospital scheme? And how I would go about that.

Ive rambled on sorry , just like to chat with anyone with similar decisions they have made.

and info about hospital change,

sorry

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community.

I haven't had radiotherapy to treat SCC, although I have had it for breast cancer, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I've had a look through the group and noticed that  had posted about having radiotherapy to treat SCC a few months ago. I've 'tagged' them into my reply to you in the hope that they'll pop on and share their experiences with you.

As for how to change the hospital where you'll receive treatment, then you might find it useful to have a chat with the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line. They are available 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm and the number is 0808 808 0000.

Do pop back and let us know what you decide to do.
