Large Bcc on chest - skin flap

I had a 5mm bcc excised last week on my shoulder. The wound is now 5cm long with 5 stitches in it! I have another lesion on my chest that they were not confident taking out and have referred me to plastic surgeon. Not sure how long it will take, hoping someone might know. The chest lesion is 4cm x 3cm so it is large. They have said I will likely need a skin flap. Has anyone had this done? Is it local anaesthetic or general? How long is recovery? How long will I need off work? I went straight back in to work after the one on my back, literally drove from my appointment back into the office and I think that was a bit too quick! Wondering how long I have to wait for surgery and what the recovery time is like for skin flap surgery on my chest.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

When I needed a plastic surgeon to remove a BCC from my chest I had about a 4 week wait. It was removed under a local anaesthetic and I was able to continue with my normal daily routine straight away. However, I wasn't working and didn't need a flap so don't have any experience around that.
