I had Cryotherapy done yesterday morning on a BCC that is on the centre of my nose, it scabbed over really well by the evening however I accidentally knocked the scab off whilst taking my jumper off. Has anyone experienced this and still had good healing results?
The BCC had created quite a large dent in my nose before treatment which now looks double the size since the scab was knocked off and I am concerned that I will be left with scarring.
i have also been told to use the Efudix cream around where the lesion was treated and not to put it on the lesion is this correct?
I feel as if yesterdays appointment was so rushed, my letter said no treatment would be carried out during that appointment so I was not really prepared for anything and I was quite anxious at the time.
thank you
Hi SL1990 and a very warm welcome to the skin cancer forum which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I had cryotherapy for a BCC on my chest but wasn't prescribed with Efudix to use alongside.
Have you been allocated a SCNS (skin cancer nurse specialist), sometimes referred to as a key worker or Macmillan nurse? If so, give her a call as she should be able to clarify what you need to do.
If you haven't been allocated a nurse then give your consultant's secretary a call and explain that you need to clarify treatment instructions and she should be able to put you through to the right person.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi Latchbrook
thank you for the reply!
I don’t have a SCNS, if I’m being honest since being told I have BCC the general reaction is that it’s one of the “better” cancers to have so I don’t think it is treated the same way as other cancers perhaps this is why? Even the appointment seemed rather rushed and the letter originally said no treatment would be done at that appointment so I think I was more in shock and unprepared for it being treated straight away. The dr said it would be easier than surgery considering it was on my nose.
The scab has reformed but not as thick as before so I’m hoping it will be fine, I have also been applying the cream in a thin layer around the edge making sure it is rubbed in.
I have a follow up appointment booked for 6 weeks where they will assess to see if it needs any more cryotherapy so I wonder if it may take more than one round? I hope it won’t.
Fingers crossed that one course of cryotherapy will be enough... it certainly was with mine.
