Hello everyone. I have been prescribed a mixed course of Efudex and Regencorr. I have two basaliomas, both on my nose. The tumors are not large and have been detected recently. I have completed three weeks of Efudex and am now continuing with regencorr.
I have a question: is everything okay? And here's why. When I apply regencorr on the bcc of the upper part of the nose, then after, I feel that there is some reaction in the skin, like tingling, and itching. But when I apply the cream on the lower area of the nose, I do not feel anything and there is no reaction. The doctor says to continue and follow the instructions and he sees no problems.
Maybe there are those who know, if there is no reaction to the cream, is it normal? Maybe I'm worried for nothing? I just read that as a rule, immediately after efudex, the reaction to regencorr is tangible, powerful, but I have on the lower area of the nose, after applying the cream no reaction at all.
Hi Roitem and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It's natural to wonder if your treatment is working if things don't happen as you expect them to. I don't have any experience with using these creams, as my BCC was removed surgically, but in your position I'd take heart that your doctor has said "to continue and follow the instructions and he sees no problems".
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. Hi roitem
Hello roitem. You titled the topic incorrectly. No one will notice your topic and you will not get a reply.
I know Regencor well, but I have not used Efudex.
I think you have a common problem that has been discussed here before, both diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis.
Apparently the cream doesn't absorb well, that's why there's such a difference in response. The same problem has all been solved with keratolytics.
Maybe you're applying the cream wrong, not enough time. There's not enough information. Read the thread. It's not difficult to find.
Hello, Puckettyboo. Im thankful for the reply. Yes, that's right. the course of treatment, I started with efudex. At first, I felt it and the reaction to this cream was very strong and after the second week, I did not feel the reaction to efudex constantly. Now, I am continuing the course with regencorr and, in some areas, I do not feel it either. And my doctor warned me that the lack of reaction to the cream, it is bad and means something wrong. There must be a reaction, otherwise the treatment is not correct.
Hello, Bredcam. I have read the forum thread you are writing about. Yes, keratolytics have been used successfully and in time of treatment, but, I don't have such an accumulation of skin scales, crusts that can be cleaned with keratolytics. But, from the looks of it, this may be the second time the skin on my nose will start peeling off. and I'm not sure if a keratolytic can be applied at all in this case.
Hi Roitem. I haven't had experience with these creams, but I am seriously considering efudex + regencorr and will be going through the treatment. I have a recurrence of a basal cell carcinoma. I have several coworkers who have been treated with efudex. They told me that after the second week or so, the skin starts to peel off. And if the course of efudex is long, such skin peeling can happen again. A thin layer of skin dies off and begins to slowly fall off. You probably have another flaking of the skin affected by efudex, for the second time, you can be sure. Maybe the regencorr isnt penetrating through this layer either. Please dont disappear, write how your treatment is going.
I have a relapse of BCC after mohs. I also have actinic keratosis that's still not cured, need to do something about this situation i'm tired of thinking. make sense to try. My doctor told me that external chemotherapy and immunotherapy would be more effective. Now i am starting to realize what the drawbacks and problems of efudex are. Some of them I think can be solved.
Hi Roitem. Using keratolytics in the middle of the course, between Efudex and Regencor is not correct or even dangerous, but before the course, it is right, and there are such recommendations. Applying keratolytic immediately after Efudex, can cause severe inflammation of the skin and even ulcer on the skin, and after that, in place of the ulcer will appear again crust. The problem will be repeated again for sure.
You shdnt wait for this layer of skin to peel off. Rub and massage gently the lower part of the nose, and the peeling skin will start to crack and peel off, you can rub Regencorr into these cracks.
I have a question for everyone in the thread. I started to notice a smell of Regencorr. Stored it in the fridge most of the time. The smell is faint but unpleasant. What is the smell of your cream?
