Hi, I am new to the forum and am looking for help and ideas in how to help my husband through his treatment. He has been through a lot in the last year with a massive operation on his scalp, with muscle and skin removed from his back for the flap, in October. Then in March he had a lesion removed from inside his lower lip again with a skin graft. Unfortunately he now has several more lumps on his head which will be treated with 3 weeks of radiotherapy starting next week.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can keep him positive and motivated. Because he is immune suppressed due to a kidney transplant this is likely to be ongoing and the radiotherapy will not be a cure.
Thank you.
That sounds really tough. I don't really know how you can help him through but didn't want to read and run. For me I appreciated being reminded that BCCs never spread, that the treatment is temporary and would eventually be over. I also would have liked some help finding alternative activities whilst I couldn't do my usual sports and things after surgery. I was bored and frustrated and felt trapped in the house, so any ideas to get me out and about and doing something fun to take my mind off things would have been great. Good luck. Xx
