Hi

I have a 1 cm sunken low grade cancer on my nose tip. I'm going in to surgery on 14 April. I've been waiting since last august and it's been so stressful watching it get worse and having a toddler.

can anyone advise on scars if the cancer has made a dip?

what is the recovery time?

what creams can help with scars. I use factor 50 in winter.

I have very freckly skin will this make my nose look strange?

Sending love to everyone here and thank yous in advance for any help x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I had a BCC removed from my chest 2 years ago and the scar now is just a very pale, thin line and hardly noticeable. However, the BCC hadn't caused a dip beforehand so I can't comment on that.

I've had a few lesions removed over the years and have always used E45 on them. All of them are barely visible now.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming surgery.

  • Hi carcinomanose

I had a basal cell cancer removed from the side of my nose last year and yes the waiting is so stressful as they don't rush these things

Mine wasn't sunken but I didn't have a reconstruction, it was left to close in and heal by itself. There was a substantial hole but it healed in 6 weeks and now looks fine.

I'd imagine you will have some kind of reconstruction and your surgeon will be able to explain what he/she is going to do. It should be discussed with you and fully explained.

Wounds heal well but they take time but they do fade and surgeons who.operate on faces really are experts at what they do.

Mine told me to massage the area with vaseline once it had healed.

Probably not much help but just wanted to reassure you that even though I didn't have a reconstruction my nose has healed well.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

  • Thank you so much just the response itself is a hug in itself

As a red head I'm still shocked that cancer presents itself as a scar like tissue, I've only ever looked out for moles?

So glad I went when I did x

  • Ok, thank you so much for your message

  • I am so grateful but I feel abs exhausted it's so weird like all the adrenaline and fight has gone and I'm a lump.

I think because I got the all clear I should be better and back to normal, but I'm still recovering from the op and everything.

So I'm ok but confused x

  • hi carcinomanose   i had mohs surgery 10 days ago i had a skin graft. my nose looks horrendous so very bloody and purple  when will it look better? i hope you are feeling better now .

  • Hi feisty

Ten days is very early. Our bodies go through a healing process which takes time and wounds can look worse for a while.

It will get better. You'll be surprised. Give it time

  • Hi

Adrenaline comedown is perfectly normalWe have such a long wait to get these things sorted our stress Glevels get sky high and then whGen it's over we tend to crash.

Give it time. You'll get there
