I thought I'd write about my experience so far of using efudix on a patch of pink skin on my jawline, thought to be a pre cancerous AK. In case my experience helps others.
I was prescribed 3 weeks of treatment and told the little pink patch I was to treat would become red and ugly. I read a few articles online and saw some pretty awful pictures. I am 15 days through so far.
I use the cream twice a day on the patch and a few cm each side of it to make sure i am covering the whole thing. I saw no real change at all for the first week and was really questioning whether anything was going to happen at all. The patch stayed the same light pink colour it had always been.
Then day 8, 9 and 10 it suddenly went much darker red. I also noticed other patches started to spring up nearby... the cream is finding more AKs! At this point the patch felt prickly and tight. I must admit I am relieved to not be doing a really large part of my face, I can see why some people do sections at a time.
Day 12 it became rough to the touch and more sore. Day 14 it started to go crusty and yellow and scab over, and that's where I'm up to now. I'll update again with more info as I finish the treatment and hopefully my skin starts to clear up.
Hi Lidser and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
Thanks very much for taking the time to share your experience so far with Efudix. I'm sure other members of the group will find this very useful if they are prescribed this cream.
Wishing you all the best

I have used Eufidix in the past for Actinic Keratosis and Actinic Chellitis and had the same experiences My dermatologist says I have a really good reaction to the cream but would add it really does get worse before it gets better my lips and chest area were the worse but so pleased I arrived the treatment though as all signs of AK now gone and have lovely new smooth skin
