Hello
just wondering how long people have waiting for a BCC removing, I’m now 13 weeks waiting to see plastics. I rang up at week 10 to check in system and told it could be up to 18 weeks. I have a BCC in mmm on my scalp and although they are supposed to be ‘slow growing’ I just think it’s getting bigger and it itches like crazy and I’m fed up of it
Xx
Hello Poppy5 I had my bcc's removed privately and waited about 3 weeks as it was Xmas, but Consultant did say if I had gone on NHS list the wait could be a year. I think that is far too long to wait as the second one I had done I suppose the wait between operations was 8 weeks and it had got much bigger in that time scale. Keep pressuring them. Keep in touch and good luck xx
Hi Poppy5 Difficult to say as he did biopsy in January when he operated on my first one, so I would say about the size of a pea. By the time he did it the area of redness was slightly bigger than a 50p. The skin around the actual lesion had gone very red so a largish area was cut away. I thought a year was an awful long time and had I had it done via NHS I would certainlly have been on the phone to them as I could see it getting bigger. How long have you had it now. I think you wait longer if you need a plastic surgeon. If a dermatologist can do it think it is a quicker process. I saw a dermatologist first but as soon as he saw it he said I can't do that you need a plastic surgeon so he referred me to one, so another 3 week wait. I really feel for you as the waiting is awful an your mind goes into overdrive. Mr Friend has a suspect "thing" on her calf and she is having hers done next week and waited 3 weeks, but dermatologist is doing itxx
Hi poppy
I've just had a basal cell removed and I waited for four months from consultation to surgery.
Hi poppy 5
I need to clarify that I first saw a dermatologist who referead me to head a neck surgeon. That wait was about 10 weeks. Then the wait for surgery after seeing him was about four months
Hi I first noticesdsomething on the side of my nose in November 2021 but dismissed it at first (covid and pure ignorance combined really) I rang for a doctors appointment and had to send photos. The appointment was 3 weeks even for a telephone consultation (covid times) but when I had it at the end of January the doctor then asked me to come down to the surgery there and then. I was seen at hospital in mid February and had the biopsy 3 weeks later. The results were given to me four weeks later and I was told surgery would be around 6-8 weeks. I rang after 10 weeks and was told they were busy with urgent cases. I innocently thought that was a good sign in a way. However I rang again after 14 weeks and said it all seemed very slow. They went away and then came back and asked me to go in four days later as they had a cancellation. Had they or had they forgotten me???? I had the surgery and a skin graft 3.5 weeks ago but got my results 1.5 weeks ago to say they hadn't got clear margins so needed to do some more but this time it needed to be a forehead flap. The actual skin graft has failed now but I think in fairness this is because they had to take away more than they expected once i was on the table and if they had realised it may have been a flap from the start as the depth into the nose was deep so difficult for the graft to take.
I guess what I am saying is don't wait, but keep chasing them as there is the very slightest chance you have dropped through the system
