Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone on here has had a cheek rotation skin flap? I have a Mohs procedure booked for early September for an incompletely excised infiltrative BCC on my upper cheek. They are hoping do a simple closure in the same area as my previous scar (which runs diagonally from about an inch near the corner of my inner eye out towards my cheek) but have been told I may need a cheek rotation skin flap. Just wondering if anyone else has had one & what their experience was like? The pictures I’ve seen online are a little alarming but seem to have good results once healed - my 6 year old daughter freaked out when she saw me after my last op so worried I’ll frighten her again. Do they do it the same day as the Mohs & is it under local anaesthetic too?
sorry for all the questions,
Hannah
Hi Hannah
I haven't had this procedure so can't help with your questions I'm afraid. I tried searching for 'cheek rotation skin flap' in the group and although I found lots of posts which talk about skin flaps I didn't find any which mentioned cheek rotation in them.
You could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the nurses will respond within 3 working days. Do you have a cancer/clinical nurse specialist (CNS) assigned to you at your hospital? If so you could give her a call and she should be able to answer your questions.
