Hello all,
I have an appointment on Wednesday to discuss possible Mohs surgery. I have been referred to a different hospital as the previous one had a 6-12 month wait whilst I’ve heard this one has a waiting list of nearer 4 months. I have been told briefly about what the surgery will involve & have been sent a leaflet.
Does anyone have any tips on what I should ask?
I have already had a wide local excision for a BCC under my eye but it was infiltrative with involved margins which is why Mohs was recommended.
Thanks,
Hannah
Hi Hannah
I'm sorry to see that no one who has had Mohs' surgery was able to come along with any tips on what to ask the surgeon. How did the appointment go and do you have a better surgery date?

Thank you for your reply. Yes the appointment went well & I finally have a date in September! The only thing I’m nervous about is that I might need a skin flap which he said would be done using a cheek rotation (?) & that the surgery may be tricky due to the previous excision I had.
That's great to hear that the appointment went well and you have an appointment in September
I don't have any experience with a skin flap cheek rotation but you could start a new post asking about it and also use the search function to see if anyone has posted about this procedure previously.

I’ve had MOHs surgery twice once on my nose and again on my forehead, and would say it was a much better to have it done this way, at least you know that they have removed it all, I had a pedicle on my cheek, and had a dressing on for a couple of weeks, but the result was much better than the previous one I had removed from my nose, when they just removed it and stitched it up.
I had my nose and forehead done at virtually the same time, the forehead they just stitched up, and my nose involved a flap which took a lot longer to heal, because I had to keep the dressing on for weeks and was going back and fore every week to get the dressing changed.
