So I'm on my third week of using this cream and it's really scabbed over but sometimes it looks very wet. My skin cancer is on my chest so I'm struggling to not knock it constantly, especially when I'm trying to sleep and certain clothes keep sticking to it. I think it's all adding to the fact that I feel like crap, I'm always tired and just in general, feeling very sorry for myself. Knowing I have many more weeks of using this cream also isn't helping as sometimes it hurts when I first apply it. Oh the joys. So back to my original question, how does everyone else's look after the cream?

Thank you Magic59, those photos are helpful. Going by them the lesion on my chest is severe while the one on my foot is minor. As for how often/ how much to use, I am on the 5 days on/2 days off regime. Living for the weekends at the moment! I then feel ok ish on the Monday, start to feel worse as the week goes on. But over half way now Thumbsup tone1

Thanks Magic59, you've been very helpful. Have to say also mine was on the severe side, my doctor winced when she saw mine which is never a good sign lol. I also wasn't given any other cream to use after the treatment so will definitely be asking about the next time I see my doctor. One big problem I have is and I'm sure many are the same is, when I first went to the doctors, I was given an urgent appointment which I still had to wait 3 months for, fingers crossed I don't have to wait that long again. Thank you everyone who has replied to my post. It's a crappy thing we're all having to deal with but glad I'm able to talk and discuss it with others that are going through the same x

Hi pontymel, how are you getting on being back on the cream again? Mine seems to be reacting completely different this time round but I guess it's only the first week after having a whole week off fWink the antibiotics. Just curious to see if you're is the same Wink x

Hi Sally, I didn’t have a week off the cream - I had double strength antibiotics for a week, but the dr told me to carry on using the cream. Weird how we were told two different things Shrug. Mine is not as red and fierce, but is itching like crazy this week. It is also drier now and not weepy anymore.

The good news is I am feeling much better in myself. My constant nausea and headache has subsided. The dr did say my body could adapt over the 6 weeks and that seems to be happening. I still feel riSunglassesculously tired (I’m not really doing anything!) but just feel brighter. Finishing week 4 tonight, just two more to go Sunglasses

Well almost finished fifth week. So glad I only have one more week of this cream. Saw my go again today to get fucidin cream. Apparently the reason a lesion on a boob is so painful and sore is because breast tissue has more fat cells which are particularly prone to inflammation. She looked at mine and winced. I have become used to the constant pain, but it’s particularly bad when I move around, or reach with my arm. Believe it or not your boob moves a lot when you do those things.

Hi Sally how are things? Quick update on me. I had to stop using Aldara on my good after 5 weeks as the reaction was so severe. The lesion grew to the size of my palm, was bleeding and weeping a lot. Hospital said that such a severe reaction means it had already worked. I have had to change the dressings twice a day, putting Vaseline on to stop them sticking. It was also extremely painful, with lots of stabbing pains. Also on another 2 weeks of antibiotics.  Once the skin stopped oozing and bleeding I had steroid cream to put on every night. It is finally, almost 7 weeks after starting treatment, showing signs of improvement. Plus I am feeling much better in myself.

Unfortunately they don’t think it has worked on the one on my foot as there was minimal response there, but they feel they could freeze what is left (it was very small to begin with).

Would I go through this again? I think the answer is no. The last 6 weeks have been pretty awful, with surgery it would have been over far more quickly.

Hi Pontmel, sorry I've not kept in contact, I find this website difficult to find my chats and can only find them when someone messages me as it goes to my email. I'm so sorry to hear your nightmareDisappointedith the cream, it sounds even more painful but on the up side, at least it sounds positive with your doctors saying it worked which is why it was so bad. Also sounds a better plan with your foot too. Disappointedm finally on my week 6 as I was told by my doctor to not use the cream whilst I was in my antibiotics. I honestly don't think I could have kept on using in any case as like yours is now, was very ozDisappointed and wet. This last week I've also been very poorly, not sure it's just sods law or whether it's this horrible cream or not and because of where it is on my boob, it's continued to rub on my otheDisappointedone so I now have to extra spots that are very sore. All I can say is, this week can't end soon enough for me and then God knows how long I'll have to wait for another doctors appointment as my "urgDisappointedt" one I had to actually diagnose me took 10 weeks and I've not been told anything else. I think I can honestly say, I don't think I'd choose this way of treatment again either. It's all be very emotional and very painful. Here's to things looking up for all very soon x

Hi salLeRush and Pontymel pleased you’re both finished with the Aldara! It sounds like you had a hideous time with it! Hope all goes well for you both xx

  • I started Aldara recently, and after 9 days I had to stop due to nasty infection. I use the cream right underneath my eye. Had to take anti biotics and eye drops. Now left with big scab, and not sure yet whether I should start it again. Just bad luck I guess.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

You probably didn't notice when you replied to this thread that it was started over 5 years ago and, as all but one of the people replying have left the group, you're unlikely to get a reply.

The best way to find out if others restarted their treatment would be to join the group and then start a new post.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any problems joining group just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
