New to the forum - just had the phone call with MRI results - told PIRADS 5 & biopsy next - PSA was 6.8 & GP referred due to one part of prostate larger than other.
Now totally stressed out thinking this probably means cancer but realise I shouldn't assume the worst at this stage.
Hi NSW
I would have thought that a MRI would say a bit more than , hard irregular prostate, would be good to know any tumour size and location, hopefully contained within the gland.
Still think a low key affair based on what you have said so wait for the biopsy, see what that says although if u can find out more about the MRI could be worth it
Best wishes
Steve
Ok, well u probably.have to wait but suppose u could phone them and ask
I just looked at previous posts we have had and I always feel that what the MRI says is more important than biopsy.
Obviously biopsy important as well but only tells.u aggressiveness whereas MRI tells u tumour size and most importantly, is it still in the gland.
So ring them or go along next week but make sure u get Gleeson score from biopsy and MRI report and then come back here
Best wishes
Steve
Hi Folks
Just had my Urology appointment -
Gleason 3 + 4 T2c N0 M? 3cm lesion
So low grade treatable as many of you predicted - Oncologist has already noted down no hormone treatment needed if Radiotherapy chosen - so that is what I am leaning towards at the moment.
To be honest I feel more relieved than upset right now knowing it could of been much worse.
The journey begins!
Hi
Just seen the letter sent to my GP after MRI & biopsy - it says "Large PIRADS 5 lesion involving both transitional & peripheral zones, long axis 3cm
Additional PIRADS 4 in peripheral zones with mild capsular bulge.
T2c or early T3a NO provisional grading.
DRE revealed abnormal feeling prostate "gritty" bilaterally.
Biopsy resulted in Gleason 3-4 & MDT oncologist added to notes - no hormone treatment needed if Radiotherapy chosen.
Can't believe one of the options at the results appointment was Active Surveillance! -already decided after looking at forum posts that would not be a good idea
