Diagnosed 2 days ago so entering a whole new world and way of thinking. So much to absorb, seems overwhelming. Bone scan next week

  • You’ve come to the right place.  Welcome, and I’m sure others will be along soon.  In the meantime, look at your results so far and compare treatments for similar diagnosis via members profiles (click on their name or avatar picture).    AW

  • Good Morning

Another warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Prostate Community - I am Brian one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan and am in the 4th year of my personal prostate cancer journey.

You are in the right place for help, advice and just a chat and to help us help you and not keep asking are you able to add your diagnosis (PSA - Gleason Score - TNM staging etc) to your profile. To do this click on the chair, top right on your home page, then "profile" then "edit". Once you have written something don't forget to click on "save". (you can read a member's profile by clicking on their name or avatar).

Feel free to ask any questions - nothing is too trivial.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  welcome to the club.  You are at the hardest stage but things will become clearer once you have a clear picture of the diagnosis.  The guys and girls on this site have so much experience, any questions you have I am confident you will get helpful advice.  Try and avoid using Dr Google but restrict any research to Prostate UK or MacMillan for reliable info.  Once you know more or if you have any questions, just ask.  David

  • Hi Millibob (Brian)

I have had another random thought after AW's  comment about checking similar diagnoses on profiles as this often seems to be a something that crops up

Am I missing some trick, but apart from trawling through random members, how does one know if it's a similar profile?  I'm sure you will know the answer if there is one.  Of course, it may be as simple as relying on someone with a similar diagnosis commenting.

    Best Wishes

    Brian

  • Thank you Brian. Somewhat overwhelmed but pleased to be part of the discussion. Bone scan next week so I’ll post further afterwards. Best wishes

  • Thanks David. Will respond as soon as i have the full picture.

  • Hello Brian (

Another question I don't have a great answer to however

    * I tend to remember who is where with their treatment as I am online most days and do read every post.

    * If you put your staging or Gleason into search at the top it does give you some answers..

Keep asking - and I will keep the grey matter turning!!

    Best wishes - Brian.
