Hi everyone,
just joined this group . PSA of 140 , DRE confirmed cancer . I’m well read on the subject and terrified waiting for MRI scan results . Fairly young at 55 , fit and well app art from occasional uninary symptoms. Gone from planning a future based on high fitness and maybe start dating again after recent split - to this . It’s a nightmare , never felt such emotional pain snd psychological distress . Looks like it’s time to find another way of viewing life
So sorry to see you on this forum. BUT you have reached out to a great bunch of people who will answer any questions you need answered . None of us are medics but have a wealth of personal knowledge .
My OH went from elation when told he was treatable to flat on our knees when it was discovered he is on a palliative journey . We go from blood test to blood test BUT we are living our lives in a way that we can now call our new normal . Life is good and he still enjoys scuba diving , walking at least 12 k a day and gym at least 3 times a week .Keeping fit helps with the side effects of what us in front of you .
best wishes & do not be afraid to ask any question as someone will answer
Liz & OH xx
Thanks ,
Really want to find a way to deal with it . Guess I’ll need to sit it out for the scan results and hope it’s curable . The PSA number is what really scares me as ad far as I can see 140 usually means advanced cancer .
Maybe I’ll be able to post again with better news but getting through the wait for answers is traumatic .
Hello
Sorry to see you here....we are new to this too with my partner only diagnosed 6 weeks ago, similar psa to you......click on my profile for information. We are really still processing this, my partner is only 56 and our new normal is gonna take awhile to adjust to. What I can say for definite is that this forum is amazing and the people I have met on here have been so supportive, make this space your go to from now on! Keep us updated, all the very best ️
Wonder if us younger guys more likely to have these kind of numbers ?
There are many on here with high psa and a curable diagnosis, and vice versa.....the waiting for all the diagnostic tests is awful, the worst part.....sounds strange to say with my partners diagnosis and prognosis but its much easier to accept and process now we have a plan and a team.
Welcome to the club no one wants to be a member of, nice to meet you.
There are a few of us young folks here. While your PSA is high, it doesn't necessarily mean stage 4, best to wait for the staging to be completed. This waiting for answers is the hardest part.
There is life after diagnosis, even in higher stages.
Hope this helps

Yes and thanks , what you’re saying is really helpful. Bizarrely looking forward to knowing the full facts . Hopeing for a cure too . I feel fit and well and I’m puting a diet plan into place , vegan .
Got kids too , lots at stake .
Sending your family a bunch of good luck vibes .
You are in double shock and edging away from romance for a minute the best news you have is your age. That means that you are likely to be offered any and all treatments after all the data about your situation.
Your PSA is way lower than mine but as everyone will tell you there is only so much you can learn from that reading. The PSA trend is more of an issue. So wait until the hormone treatment or whatever’s prescribed for you gets to grip with your cancer then you’ll relax a little at a time.
Ask questions here when you get them, about anything including sex, pain, relationships and everything else because the support here is for you.
Patience is the one thing you’ll need in abundance. But after all the waiting any contact with clinicians should be noted down and kept for your reference later. It’s important that you realise that self advocacy is going to be a great strength you need to survive.
This is a start on a path that nobody wants to be on but you’re here so make the most of it. There are so many ways this forum will help you get by.
