Hello (again)

We would just like to say that after hovering around here since April  and not really introducing ourselves properly we are now ready to share our PC Diary and  for anyone interested it is now on our Profile page. We hope it may help anyone who could be in the same position. We are under Tayside Health Board, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee

thank you all Blush

  • Thank you for sharing! Very informative and so glad to read the word "curative"....also thank you for all your support outside of this forum, this group along with you and a couple of others we have met through prostate cancer uk have been immensely important to me and PaulHearts

    Good luck to you both!

  • A curative pathway is the two words that you should remember everyday. Your profile is full of praise to the two services I depend on each day especially for my head space. And like you I can’t say enough how important the NHS and Macmillian are, and have been, in my travels of this couples disease that can take over your life but with help, life can poke through occasionally and surprise you and comfort you knowing that it’s not over yet! It’s just different. Once you get used to the new you and he, everything becomes easier. I wish you well, both of you, and please ask away if there’s anything bothering you. Thanks for sharing your experience, and keep the faith.

  • Welcome to our “band of brothers and sisters.”…. Pretty sure you will have read my bio, but no chance of reciting it - it’s too long!  Anyway, welcome too, to our radiotherapy club!  You have a super positive attitude and this will serve you well during treatment and side effects.  AW

  • Hi  many thanks for sharing that. Great encouragement for other newbies.

    Best wishes, David

  • Hello

Great post and I am pleased that all is going well for you both.

Our journey is an individual one but shared we can understand how each one of us got here and it enables us to help others who are just starting out.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • We too thank you for sharing this. We find this very positive as your details and age are very similar to our own.

We're about three weeks behind you, delayed by a wait for a PSMA Pet scan that showed nothing, not even the position of the known cancer in the prostate, and is just one of our questions to ask at our oncology meeting early next month.

Not a journey we expected to undertake, but finding the support from this forum invaluable, thank you and best wishes.

  • Hi  , your note rather intrigued me.  Your original M0/M1a is presumably being reclassified as M0.  So unless the PET had a problem why are you classified as N1.  Please let us know what the consultant tells you and feel free to ask any questions.

    Best wishes, David

  • Hello, David, thank you for your reply. Our oncologist meeting is a still a few weeks away, and we have several queries. The diagnosis letter states cancer in seminal vesicles and pelvic lymph node(s). Presumably this was seen on the MRI? The PET was to see if it had spread further, the fact that nothing 'lit up' was a surprise to the nurse too......we have an ever growing list of questions!

Just glad that HT treatment has started, and hope this is having an effect - fatigue mid-afternoon seems to be the biggest side effect - so far! I'm presuming there will be another PSA test at some point soon, too. We do feel a little bit adrift at the moment after the flurry of tests in those early weeks pre diagnosis.

    Best wishes to you too.

  •   this is a worrying phase until you get a clear diagnosis.  I can well remember the lead up to meeting the consultant.  Knowing what I know now, I would be much more relaxed, but even after 8 years, my wife can detect my stress before the quarterly blood tests.  Good luck with your next appointment and yes there will be many more PSA tests down the line!

    Best wishes, David
