Hi
Wondering if anybody can share their experiences when it come to HT and Chemo. My Dad was diagnosed late 2021 and has been on Firmagon. PSA has risen from 1.4 to 42 and consultant cannot understand why this is. Currently we are waiting to find out what his testerone level is as they cannot rule out his last injection was not administered correctly possibly due to the nurse not mixing the solution properly...this would be the best outcome and a blip on this very bumpy road we are on. If this is not the case then he will be offered 10 weeks of chemo as well as hormone therapy. Has anybody else had a similar experience and be happy to share their story with me. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Hi
I was on Prostap for 2 years and it never occurred to me that the drug wouldn't work if it wasn't correctly mixed. Scary. That said, it all worked fine for me.
I am a little surprised, however, that one poorly administered dose, would cause such a spike in PSA. Others on here may disagree of course.
Fingers crossed the consultants view is correct.
Regards
Stuart
I've been on Firmagon and I'm about to start chemo because Enzalutamide is no longer working. I know exactly what you mean regarding a nurse struggling to mix the drug properly but I doubt this is the reason. My testosterone is under control but my PSA is still rising. Good luck with the treatment.
