Hi all
psa tested in April at 4.59 so sent down the cancer pathway. MRI and Biopsy in May , T2a Gleason 3-4 confirmed. MDT at original hospital June and referred to Leeds for Brachytherapy. Another MDT there last week and today got a phone appointment for August 22nd.
Obviously my normal reaction is to panic and say won’t this thing be growing and become t3 in this time but I know I need to trust the MDT meetings and if I was an urgent case I’d be bumped up the queue?
I am used to the thought of the cancer now and often watching Dr Schulz on YouTube videos I feel I should try relax and trust in the NHS and that they have my back . I’m just turned 60 and would like to take any opportunity to show this thing the door.
Should I relax? MDT brachtherapy team means a team of specialists in this field have seen my histology and scans and are comfortable for me to be contacted end August right?
Hello Angus JG
I think you should be fine - Low PSA - The Lower of the 2 Gleason 7's (3 + 4) and T2a so the cancer is in half of one lobe. So it's slow growing.
As long as the cancer is not about to break out of the gland you will be fine - I assume your team have confirmed this with an MRI scan.
Relax, enjoy the summer (it's throwing it down in Oldham as I type this) have a holiday, just carry on as normal - as we say here "thal' be reet".
I hope it goes well for you.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Angus JG - you will be absolutely fine, I’m sure. As Millibob said, you have a low PSA and T2a. Indeed, your team have put you through the system quickly too! As you have been recommended for brachytherapy as a mono therapy, you are definitely on the curative pathway. Dr Sholtz and his interviews are perfect viewing to calm your nerves. August will be fine for resumption of your pathway. Enjoy the summer in the meantime. AW
Thanks much appreciated. Yes Dr Sholtz puts a whole different perspective doesn’t he
Indeed. He is a real supporter of brachytherapy (with no financial interest). Based on statistical success and - often forgotten in the rush to treat the cancer- the lesser side effects from brachytherapy. AW
