Hello
First time on here hope someone can give me their opinion ?
Have been Diagnosed with Prostate T4 N1 (Lymph Node Localised) and was only given one Option of Treatment - Hormone Therapy - I am 58 and had no symptoms prior to developing Urosepsis whilst in Hospital and was Catheterised.
Is this Correct pls ?
Also could someone who has had Hormone Therapy explain the Changes he has gone through.
I have the Tablets now and the Injections have been booked but I havn't started the Treatment due to Reservations.
Best wishes to everyone.
Thanks
Hi Brog,
I have been on hormone therapy since my diagnosis on 9/3/20. I am also on Abiraterone every day 2 x 500mg daily and Prostap3 every 3 months. Yes I have side effects including weight gain, occasional hot flushes, fatigue, erectile dysfunction and slight insomnia. I also have separate side effects from the Abiraterone but I deal with all of them as I go along. The benefit from my medication far outweighs any side effects in my opinion as I`m still here. At diagnosis I was not offered surgery or radiotherapy so at the moment hormone therapy is my friend.
Take care, Tom.
Hi
I have been on hormone therapy for five years plus, what I’ve found is makes you tired and weary, saps your sexual appetite, can make you restless, not all these things apply to everyone we are all different. Just I’m a side effects dream if it’s out there then it usually comes my way.
stay safe
Joe
Hello Brog, on Prostap monthly injections. Side effects for me - hot flushes and sweats (receiving accupuncture but as yet no improvement), loss of muscle tone, weight gain around middle, emotional at times, problems sleeping, no sex drive and fatigue is an issue too. On these for life but if it helps me that's the way it is.
Best wishes to to you, Graham.
I was on HT for three years and had the three monthly injections in the backside, alternate sides each time. That way you only get the same (or nearby) site every six months.
Side effects were mainly hot flushes and fatigue. I found that exercise was the best way to combat the fatigue and had Cyproterone Acetate tablets together with Sage Leaves & Evening Primrose Oil to combat the hot flushes. Be aware that the Cyproterone can raise blood sugar levels and you should be careful if you have diabetes or are pre-diabetic.
My understanding is that its always used, it can become less effective but will still be used/ helpful
