My husband (aggressive p c, had surgery 2013 and RT 2014 and has just completed the month's H tablets and had one H injection) is experiencing hot flushes (seen replies suggesting sage leaf capsules and evening primrose oil, thanks), diarrhoea and occasional confusion and forgetfulness...are these normal?
Hi Jentee and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that you have had to come here but you are in a good place for answers.
Yes, I'm afraid to say that HT affects short term memory. As well as EPO & SL capsules I occasionally take an homeopathic remedy of Sepia (cuttlefish ink). It's only when the other things start to fail so not very often. You could ask your GP about other medication for hot flushes, Cyproterone Acetate is often used and there are several others which might help.
Also be aware that HT can affect blood sugar levels in as many as 1 in 10 men (GPs are generally unaware of this!) which can lead to type 2 diabetes (I was diagnosed a few months ago and blame the HT). So he needs to get his HbA1c levels checked occasionally.
Good luck with your journey and please come back with any questions you may have as someone on here will have been down the same path.
