hi All,

Back in April my partner was diagnosed with advanced Prostate cancer with a high pSA of 350. This has come down in a few months and is now at 0.65 , doc said that was good today - he’s on the hormone therapy and the drug beginning with ‘E’ can’t remember full name. He originally had a spinal and pelvis MRI and it appeared that the bones were all clear sadly today we now know that it is in the spine, Pelvis and pelvic lymph nodes due to recent PET Scan .

I’m so worried about our darling son who is only 11 , my partner is 49 and I’m 40, our son knows his dad has cancer but it looks more serious with each phone call.

is there any other parents here that might want to chat ? Maybe I can reach out for support with the Macmillan nurses… or any particular resources for kids and teens.

I’m so scared and feel like I’m grieving my old life, I’m sad for me and his dad but so worried for my boy. Him and his dad have got an amazing relationship but he can feel the fear and worry in the air.

Thanks so much for reading x

  • Hi Els81

Sorry about all that is going on, it can be really hard to understand, your son might know about cancer as it’s saturated on many tv channels, but having your father with it is hard to swallow.

Mcmillan nurses are good people to talk to, they have gone through many scenarios. The drug he is on at the moment is the same as mine enzalutamide, I have the same as your husband pelvis etc, I’am past five years and although I have way to much of a laid back disposition, I stay positive.

My children have grown up, but worry about me not as much as my wife, who is petrified about me walking up the stairs. PC is very slow to grow and he will have many years to come, so enjoy being together tomorrow they might have a cure.

    Stay safe

    Joe

  • Hi Els.

Sorry that you have to be here but you'll find lots of support from fellow sufferers.

Is there a Maggie's Centre attached to your oncology unit? If so give them a ring as they too can be a great help. You could also ring the Prostate Cancer UK nurses who are brilliant.

Good luck with your husband's treatment.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.
