I live in Islington, N London, and would like to join or set up a local support group in the area  for men with Prostate Cancer.

Is this something that other men would be interested in - or perhaps it already exists?

I find the online support very useful in terms of getting advice about Cancer, but once the restrictions are eased it would be good to meet up and have a more social type of group.

  • There's a Maggie's Centre at Charing Cross hospital and they will certainly have a Prostate Cancer Support Group. I don't know London at all so I have no idea how far that is from you.

The support group I joined in Maggie's Glasgow was extremely well attended, so I'm sure you will get a lot of interest.

    Good luck with the project.

  • It would be worth you contacting Macmillan and the specialist nurses at  the nearby hospitals: many years ago, the Royal Free hosted a number of cancer support groups, but I have no recent knowledge.

I don't know about the Whittington.

There are also other possible groups in Camden, based in or around UCH.

If there isn't one already, I'm sure there's facilities and support for setting one up. Good Luck.

[ADDED:] There is a Maggies at the Royal Free and one at Barts; probably easier for you than the Charing Cross

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
