Hi
I am new here ...my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer just over 4 years ago.duecto lots of underlying health condition he was only able to have radiotherapy
He was on bicalutamide for 6 months but due to other health conditions these were stopped
Last September we were told the cancer has now spread_small pieces in his pelvis, ribs, lower spine
He was put straight back on the bicalutamide ,then prostap injections and stopped the bicalutamide.he is suffering horrendous hot flushes as a side effect day and night.in January the gp tried him on venlafaxine to try to help but this did no good
The consultant has now prescribed cyproterone acetate tablets which I collected Friday, was just wondering which is the best time for these to be taken as it just says one daily and there is no leaflet in the box. Also has anyone had side effects from these?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post
I can't find any specific advice on time of day.
They do say "Take it with a drink after meals", and clearly it would be a good idea to take it the same time of day each time.
Generally, if it matters, the pharmacy would print it on the label.
My thoughts would be if the hot flushes are worse during the day, take it in the morning, if the nights are more of a problem, take it with his last meal of the day.

Heinous
If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.
Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
You could also try Sage Leaf capsules and Evening Primrose oil. I take 2 of 285mg SL and one of 1300mg EPO twice a day and hot flushes are mostly controlled very well. I get them from Holland and Barret when they are on a "Buy One Get One for a Penny" offer. Sometimes the hot flushes do build up and for those occasions I have a homeopathic backup of Sepia Officianalis (cuttlefish ink) which knock them on the head. One tablet crunched and swallowed at 11am, 3pm & 7pm (at least an hour away from eating and drinking) will do me for a couple of months. You can get them from any homeopathic pharmacy (30C concentration is what I take).
I hope that helps.
